Meet Meghan Manchego, daughter and partner at White Pine Country Store, Café & Lodge and is our resident baker.   Meghan made her way to Germania from Wyoming where she was exploring career in funeral services.    Once she settled in, she was able to further explore her love of baking.

Meghan has a family history of good home cooks.   Her maternal great grandmother was an accomplished home baker who shared her talents with her before passing.   Her paternal grandmother was a seasoned cook with a flair for Spanish cuisine who also taught Meg the cultural traditions.

As White Pine Country Store, Café & Lodge emerged in its new ownership, Meghan has provided baked offerings of pies around Thanksgiving that were a hit among the clientele.  Her initial offerings were apple, pumpkin and shoe fly pie.   As spring approaches, we can anticipate some delicious fresh fruit pies from harvests of our local farmers.   From there she explored and has perfected her bread making techniques providing amazing sour dough loaves and larger than life cinnamon rolls to the many fine products sold in the store.  During the holidays and winter months Meghan has begun experimenting with hard candies.   Her cinnamon candy got rave reviews as well as her peppermint and butter rum.

In addition to her culinary skills, Meghan is completing training as an EMT and is now a member of the Germania Volunteer Fire Company.      It won’t be long before she becomes a fire house hit with her baking.    Stop in and treat yourself to her sweet treat of the day.
